History of the Pengelly-Parkin Cup
Colonel John Pengelly-Parkin,
a Praetorian battalion commander of the Imperial Guard served during the
2nd Armageddon War. When his forces lifted the siege of Helsreach,
he recovered the cup from the wreckage of the Imperial Temple, still clutched
in the dead hands of a fallen Sister of Battle. He kept the Cup in
hopes of returning it to the Ecclesiarchy that it might be kept as a relic.
During his subsequent advance towards Infernus, a force
of enemy infiltrators penetrated the main line and attempted to capture the
Colonel. This plan was foiled by the timely intervention of a small
force of troops that noticed the signs of the approaching enemy and acted
on veteran instinct. All of the ColonelÕs officers that were not wounded
in the liberation of Helsreach had been assigned to more forward positions,
and so this small rearguard unit left their post and managed to save the
Colonel from falling into the hands of the enemy.
In gratitude and recognition of Valorous Service Above
And Beyond The Call Of Duty, the Cup was bestowed upon the Sergeant of the
unit, who survived the war and returned with it to the city of Vogen on his
home planet of Khai-Zhan. The Cup was kept there for many years, until
it was lost during the Khai-Zhan Uprising in 968.M41. It was taken
as a trophy by the invading Night Lords, who carried it with them into battle
and used in their foul rituals. A few years later, a force of Biel-Tann
Eldar recovered the cup from the Chaos Renegades and restored it to its former
beauty, but lost it to a horde of Tyrannids a week later.
The Cup has since passed back and forth between many
armies, who hold it as long as they have the power to resist their enemies.
It is famous across the galaxy, and many armies seek it out for its power
as a Symbol of Victory.
Tournament Outline
The event will be run similar to an official Games
Workshop "Rogue Trader TournamentÓ. Each player will play a number
of games and have 60 minutes to complete each game. First round match-ups
will be done by random draw, subsequent match-ups will be based on each playerÕs
average Generalship + Sportsmanship points: highest verse highest, next highest
verse next highest, etc. Hopefully no one will play the same opponent
twice.
Special Notes for this event only.
This event will take place over 2 days, players are
encouraged to play in as many games as they can, and are free to schedule
games as they are available.
Your final scores will use the AVERAGE of ALL the games
you play in. You must play in a minimum of 3 games to qualify for 'BEST'
awards.
There will be no "ringer army" present. If
an odd number of players are present for a particular game, the player who
has played the most games will be asked to sit out this round; in the event
of a tie a volunteer from the tied group will be asked for, if no one steps
forward those players will dice off, the one rolling highest will not compete
this round. No player will miss more than one game.
Do to limited space, the table size will be limited
to 4' deep (opponent's table edge to your table edge) however only 3' wide
from flanking table edges.
The new Assault Rules will not be used for this
event, but will for future events. You have been warned.

2 ‹ Explain any confusing or special aspects of your army,
and any wargear that is strange or new to your opponent. You do not
need to show your army list to your opponent prior to the game, but as you
deploy you should clearly tell your opponent what the unit is, and what it
is armed and armoured with. You should tell your opponent about any
special rules that apply to units.
3 ‹ When Characters are deployed you should clearly state
what they are, you need not reveal what items they carry unless it is obvious.
4 ‹ Your opponent has the right to ask any reasonable
questions about your army at any time during the game. Afterwards you
may view their list freely.
